Toshiko Ueda came to the US in 1989 from Kyoto, Japan. She has a passion for cooking and baking, and strives to share her enthusiasm for the culinary arts with other people. As a young girl living in a small apartment complex in Japan, she liked to make milk pudding treats for her neighbors. It was fascinating to her that such simple ingredients as milk, sugar and gelatin could be transformed into such a delicious dessert. Since then, she has enjoyed making all kinds of desserts and breads and has decided to dedicate her life to this passion. Toshiko is a graduate of the Tante Marie Cooking School of San Francisco and the Ecole Ritz Escoffier in Paris, where she earned the Diploma of the Art of French Pastry. She has apprenticed in notable kitchens such as the Hotel Ritz Paris, Masse’s Pastries in Berkeley, and MC Squared restaurant in San Francisco. She holds a Bachelor of Home Economics degree from the Japan Women's University, a Bachelor of International Relations from the University of Southern California, and a Masters of Pacific International Affairs from the University of California, San Diego. When she's not in the kitchen, Toshiko enjoys traveling, jazz and classical music, sewing and any kind of sport followed by a nice long bath! All pictures copyright © 2004 - 2010 Alexandre G.
